I am going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life.
— Elise de Wolfe

Creativity has always been a part of my life. My favourite toys as a child were pen, paper and scissors. So it was only natural that I would later choose to attend an academy of fine arts to further my education.

Eventually, my curious and creative nature led me to another type of art: the art of hospitality- a sector in which I have been working for many years.

Though I find this very fulfilling, I found myself searching for yet another creative outlet and in 2015 I enrolled in a course for mould building for porcelain - out of curiosity.

I was mesmerised from the first moment: the smell, the consistency - the transformation of the material through the elements - it was love at first sight with this material.

Since that time it has been a continual process of experimenting, to know the material better and to develop my skills. Every opening of the kiln gives rise to more questions and ideas.

Many say it is advantageous to like cooking if you work with ceramic and I well remember my first lesson, there were no specific measurements given for the product’s consistency only comparisons with the texture of pastry, milk etc. Thankfully I love to eat as well as cook.

So everything comes together like the pieces of a puzzle for me - the years in gastronomy and hotel industry - the porcelain and vessels to fill…

… I hope my pieces give moments of enjoyment - to beautify and celebrate everyday life.
